The Stráž lookout is located below the peak called Strážník, which towers above Rokytnice. It is easily accessible to tourists.
From this vantage point, you can admire a panoramic view of the entire town, situated in a valley between mountain peaks. In addition, you can enjoy the view of the nearby Lysá hora, one of the highest mountains in the Giant Mountains, Paseky nad Jizerou, Studenov or, for example, the typical dominant feature of the western Giant Mountains, the Kotel peak.
As the name suggests, the Stráž Mountain used to serve as a guardian hill in the past. Patrols from the hill guarded the access roads and warned the surrounding population with fire signals when threatened by the enemy. The fire signals were supposed to reach the centre of Bohemia via Kozákov and other guard hills.
The peak with a view is about 3.7 kilometres from the apartment.
